RELEASE DATE

It’s finally here. I am pleased to announce the release date for The Brazen Suite Part 2: The Devil’s Accompanist is Friday 3rd August. You can pre-order the kindle version HERE, or both parts HERE or the paperback version by clicking HERE.

There is a limited edition hard back version of The Brazen Suite Parts 1&2. They’re a little more expensive but they look amazing. You can grab yours now from my online bookshop HERE.

“But Pete,” I hear you ask, “is it any good?” This is what my beta readers have said:

“I must congratulate you on penning such a fine novel. I really enjoyed it, even though it would not normally be my genre of book. I was all the time wanting to know how it would unfold.”

“I loved the book..... it was such a refreshing change from the usual offerings out there and I thought you really identified with the female characterisation.”

“A good, unusual story well told.”

“You sick bastard.”

It’s taken a while to finish ‘The Devil’s Accompanist’ to the point where I took a break, wrote ‘The Shimmer at Fog Cottage’ and returned back to it. To reach a point of releasing ‘The Devil’s Accompanist’ is a thrill for me and I could not have got to the end without the following people: Terry Broadhurst, Claudine Astbury, Eileen Draycott, Chris Linaker, Martin Worrall, Barbara Worrall. Please accept a huge thank you from me.

I hope you enjoy this one.

NAME CHANGE

The Brazen Suite Part 2: The Devil’s Accompanist is the full length follow on from ‘Thank You For The Music’. However, I felt ‘Thank You For The Music’ as a title wasn’t good enough, nor was the artwork, and I wanted it to look part of the same series as The Devil’s Accompanist. After much deliberation I have changed the name of ‘Thank You For The Music’ to ‘The Brazen Suite Part 1: The Devil’s Composer’, so, you now have ‘The Brazen Suite Part 1: The Devil’s Composer’ and The Brazen Suite Part 2: The Devil’s Accompanist.

You can buy the kindle versions separately or save a few pence if you’ve not already got The Devil’s Composer and grab the bundled kindled version, just visit the Amazon link above or click HERE.

If you have already bought ‘Thank You For The Music’ there is no need to buy ‘The Devil’s Composer’ (Amazon might advise you already have it). ‘Thank You For The Music’ was only ever released on Kindle and has never been available in paperback format which is why I’ve bundled both parts together for the paperback release of ‘The Devil’s Accompanist’. The paperback version is available through my online bookshop.

THE EYES SERIES

The Eyes has had a make-over. I’ve split the 3 books into 5 parts so it’s now:

The Eyes Series Parts 1-5:
They Grow Upon the Eyes
The Doom of the Hollow
Book 1: The Riddle of Edith Bell
Book 2: The Hollow Wyche
The Unforeseen Children of Olive Shipley
Book 1: The Man in 27e
Book 2: Olive Shipley

Why have I done this? The reason is simple, readers love a series, it’s why we watch TV shows with cliffhangers. I’ve discovered 140k word books are too long for a series but 70k ones are more digestible hence the split. I’m planning to market them directly to Kindle users in a hope to breathe new life into The Eyes story and widen its audience base. Please note, these changes are for Kindle only. Previous paperbacks and previous Kindle purchases remain unaffected. Apart from revisiting the first 40 pages of They Grow Upon The Eyes so I could remove the clunky exposition and adding a break point in The Unforeseen Children of Olive Shipley nothing else has changed.

A huge thank you to Chris Linaker who, once again, helped me out with the cover art.

COMING UP

I’ve already started work on ‘The Canal’ (Working title) and I’m really enjoying it. I’m only 4 chapters in but it’s been great fun so far after spending 3.5 years on The Devil’s Accompanist, it’s such a refreshing change. It’s my first attempt at an old school whodunit and, if well received, could be the start of series with a reoccurring character. It’s been difficult to plot so far and even at this early stage I can tell it’s going to be a lot more than the initially planned novella.

I posted this pic several days ago of one of my whiteboards. I did this on a Saturday afternoon (don't panic, no spoilers). Upton Waters is the town in 'The Canal' and even though only a fraction of these shops and people will make it into the story, as a storyteller, you have to understand the world you're creating in order to give it depth. The Devil's in the detail as they say. For example, Our hero might speak to Ophelia Pugh, owner of O. Pugh the pawnbrokers and ask her where she was last Thursday? "Well, I went to the salon to get my hair done and then bought a leg of lamb from the butchers." By creating Main Street I know exactly where Ophelia went. It doesn't matter if the name of the butchers is not mentioned, as long as I know, it helps me get an understanding of the location etc... Well, that's the theory at least.

Thank you for all your support. Don’t forget to sign up for my monthly newsletter so you don’t miss out on all that’s coming up.

Rock on
Pete
